Mandala was created in the service of one of the world’s great religions, Buddhism. They were produced in Tibet, India, Nepal, China, Japan, Bhutan, and other Buddhist countries date from the 4th century to the present. Now they are created throughout the world. Mandalas are commonly used by Tantric Buddhists as an aid to meditation. A Mandala offering in Tibetan Buddhism is a symbolic offering of the entire universe.
During our foreign tour, our monks create sand mandalas which are colorful made of sand that is ritualistically destroyed. These sand mandalas are made to be destroyed to symbolize the Buddhist belief that death is not the end, our essence will return to the elements. That is what they like the most fascinating part of the journey.
